Carey’s Castle Hike - 5/14/2011

Troop 262 Scouts, Kurtis V, Chris C, Matthew B and Armand C (along with Mr. Connolly and Mr. Philbrook as leaders) completed the 10 mile round trip hike to Carey’s Castle in the Joshua Tree National Park on May 14th. This earned them one of five required 10 mile hikes for their Hiking Merit Badge and Kurtis and Armand completed their hiking requirements for 2nd Class badge. This challenging hike was greatly enjoyed by all and was an exciting adventure. Best part of the hike according to a majority of the Scouts was the boulder scrambling we had to do in order to hike up and down the rocky canyon. Great job to all the Scouts!

Troop 262 will be marching in the Veteran’s Day Parade on Wednesday, November 11, 2009. Here are the details:

We will meet in the Bank of America parking lot at 588 S. Palm Canyon Drive, at the corner of Palm Canyon and Ramon Road.

Time: 3 p.m.

What to Wear: FULL CLASS A UNIFORM, including merit badge sash.

What to Bring: Water bottle (always), and the permission slip that was emailed out on Monday.

Community Service Hours: Approximately 2

This activity will take the place of the Wednesday Scout meeting. THERE WILL BE NO SCOUT MEETING on the evening of November 11, 2009.
